CELCAA – The European Liaison Committee for the Agricultural and Agri-food Trade is pleased to announce that Alice O’Donovan has been appointed Secretary General of CELCAA (European Liaison Committee for the Agricultural and Agri-food Trade). CELCAA thanks Nelli Hajdu for her outstanding service to the organisation since 2022 and wishes her all the very best as she embarks on a new chapter.
An Irish-Belgian national, O’Donovan has spent over 12 years at CELCAA member organization Eucolait, learning the ropes an experiencing the highs and lows at the nexus of agriculture and trade policy.
As an active participant in CELCAA’s activities for many years, O’Donovan is familiar with the organization’s mission and goals, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the agri-food sector in Europe. ‘The recent establishment of the European Board on Agriculture and Food (EBAF), of which CELCAA is a sitting member, represents an exciting and dynamic moment in the history of the organization and sets the scene for much of CELCAA’s advocacy over the next few years’, said O’Donovan.
O’Donovan will begin in a transitional capacity from 17 February to ensure a smooth handover from the current leadership. The full transition will take place on 1 May 2025, when she will officially assume the role of Secretary General on a permanent basis.
Note to the editor: CELCAA represents the European agri-food trade, focusing on advocacy, policy discussions, and fostering cooperation among stakeholders. CELCAA’s mission is to create a predictable environment, free of undue barriers for the agri-food trade, and to engage proactively with the European institutions and other stakeholders in the interest of the sector.
